Mornington is a pretty harbour town built in 1856 for holiday steamers and boats carrying local produce back and forth to Melbourne.
Today it offers a picturesque harbour with yachts bobbing at anchor on sparkling blue waters, great fishing opportunities along the pier, colourful beach boxes lining the beach front, cliff top walks with views to take your breath away and safe swimming beaches for families to frolic under the warm summer sunshine.
Take a stroll up Main Street, which provides plenty of speciality shops, boutiques and gifts shops, and then satisfy your appetite by dining alfresco in one of the many sidewalk cafes and restaurants.
While in the area visit the Langwarrin Flora And Fauna Reserve, which is ideal for nature study, bushwalking and photography. Studio City Pop and Media Museum along the Nepean Highway, has film, television, radio and pop music memorabilia.
